5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for all ages, January 26, 2012

I'm an unabashed adult fan of LEGO. My boyfriend and I decided on this set because it was the best of all worlds: a junk-style ship that converts into an airship, with ninjas! Whether or not you follow the ninjago story, if you're into LEGO and fantasy themes, I highly recommend this set.

The design of the ship is very well done - it's surprisingly sturdy and easy to build despite some features that I expected would have been a bit more complicated. A lever is designed to open the sails/wings when it is pulled down. The tail of the ship also turns downwards to convert into engines so that the ship becomes an airship. It's also equipped with a canon that fires LEGO cylinders and hidden compartments for daggers. The sails seem to be of a paper cloth material- sturdy enough but it will probably not survive heavy abuse from younger, less careful builders.

The ninja minifigures, except for their kendo helmets, are rehashes of the first Ninjago line. The three enemy... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Kept my 7 year old busy for a week!, April 8, 2012

This is a more complicated set for Lego/Ninjago builders. Parents, be warned! You will probably be called upon to help with fiddly bits and correcting issues, especially if you have a younger builder in your household. It is also a time consumer-- impatient children may become frustrated with the level of detail involved in this one.

On the other hand, this did keep my seven year old busy for about a week-- probably 10+ hours of actual build time.

It is fairly sturdy, but some parts can fall off during play. Lots of hidden compartments, working levers, etc. A very clever pulley rigging folds and unfolds the wings/sails with a flick of a lever. I wish we had toys this cool when I was a kid. This is definitely one of the better Ninjago kits out there in terms of quality and design.

I got this set for my son, we love building them together and this piece was especially fun.
This set includes the Destiny's ship, 4-armed Garmadon,Sensei Wu, General Skales, Slithraa, and Kendo Zane and Jay. The ship also converts its engines up and down nicely, the sail flaps open and close very nicely and smooth via a small lever, winding anchor as well and a roof canopy that raises up to expose the chambers. Great for a diorama, a shelf for show or because of its durability, it CAN be played with. It supports itself very nice.

Set contains figures mentioned above along with 634 pieces that will turn into an epic model that I feel is at a good price range for what you get.
